Shipping & Delivery

Every portrait is calculated and made to order in the United States. Here is exactly what that means depending on which format you choose.

Where we currently sell

The United States only, for now.

That is a step backwards from where we were a week ago, and we took it on purpose. We had been selling digital portraits into a short list of other countries, chosen because a digital sale in each one created no tax registration obligation at the volume we do. That reasoning was sound as far as it went — and it only went half way. Selling to someone in another country can also carry obligations about how their personal information is handled, and we had not reviewed those properly. Two of the countries on our own list turned out to follow European privacy rules in full. Once we had found two, the honest answer was that we had not really checked any of them.

So we stopped, instead of carrying on and hoping. We would rather tell you plainly that we cannot serve you yet than take your money and work out afterwards whether we were allowed to.

We do intend to sell worldwide. We are working through what each country actually requires, with proper advice rather than guesswork, and we will open them as we can stand behind them. If you are outside the United States, the product page will show you a short note and a single button to tell us which country you are in. It takes one click and asks nothing about you — no name, no email address, nothing kept but the country itself — and it genuinely decides the order we work through them in.

Where you were born is not restricted

This is about where the customer is, not where the chart is. We calculate portraits for births anywhere on earth — Munich, Lagos, Osaka, a hill town in Peru. The person on the portrait can have been born absolutely anywhere, and the reading is built the same careful way regardless. Only the billing address on your payment method decides whether we are able to sell to you.

So a grandmother born in Frankfurt and living in Ohio is no trouble at all. A Texan who has moved to Berlin, unfortunately, is — because Berlin is where the sale would take place.

Digital download

Delivered by email. No shipping, no waiting.

Your portrait arrives as a high-resolution file, usually within minutes of your order. There is nothing to ship and no delivery charge. Print it yourself or take it to a print shop.

Fine art print — rolled, unframed

Ships free within the United States.

Prints travel rolled in a protective tube and arrive ready to frame.

Fine art framed

Ships free within the United States.

A framed piece arrives ready to hang, packed in a rigid box. It is printed on pearl paper, mounted in a black wood frame behind shatter-resistant acrylic rather than glass, and fitted with sawtooth hangers so it can hang either way round.

How long it takes

  • Digital — minutes. It is emailed to you.
  • Fine art print — 5 to 8 business days from order to your door. Every piece is made individually, which takes 1 to 3 business days before it ships, then a few days in transit.
  • Fine art framed — 6 to 12 business days from order to your door.

You will receive an email with a tracking number the moment your portrait is on its way.

A note on addresses

Please check your email address carefully at checkout. It is where your digital file goes and where your tracking number goes, and a typo there is the single most common reason an order goes astray. For prints and frames, a correct street address and apartment or unit number matter just as much — carriers will not guess.

Undeliverable and returned parcels

If a parcel comes back to us because the address was incomplete or nobody could take delivery, we will email you and reship it once at no charge as soon as we have a corrected address.
